Ahhh....So sweet!
I found these adorable little baby shoes in the bottom of a box of donations for our church's youth garage sale last summer. I pulled them out simply because they were so sweet looking but I also thought someday I would find something neat to do with them.
Well that day has come. I happened to find over at the Feathered Nest Blog a tutorial for making a baby shoe pin cushion. Perfect! Just the creative inspiration I needed.
I embellished them with vintage buttons, lace, crinkled seam binding, and ribbon. I ended up gluing this one to a plate I already had. It reads Shout to the Lord all the earth... Psalms 100:3
I made both shoes. I kept one for myself and gave the other to my mother because she's a seamstress.
I'm so pleased with the way they turned out. They are really quite lovely.
I enjoyed making these so much I'm already on the hunt for more baby shoes. I'm thinking this would make a nice gift for an expecting mom who sews.
I haven't found any shoes yet but I have gotten a few other things I can transform into pin cushions.
It's on the ever growing list of future projects.

ReplyDeleteHow precious! I have some little baby shoes and may try to make one of these. How cute sitting next to the sewing machine! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThis is just precious! I have all five of my kids first baby shoes on a shelf where I see them every day. Such sweet memories! Have a great week from the enchanted oven.

I love this idea - I think baby shoes are so cute and do use them for planters, but this is so special with all the embellishments.
