HooT - HooT!
C was invited to a birthday party this weekend.
I remembered I saw this pattern on Ravelry earlier this week
and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try it out.
It's supposed to be a key chain but I don't know too many 12 year olds who carry keys.
It would, however, make a nice little accessory for a backpack, satchel,
lunchbox, gym bag, or purse.
I think most girls love owls...
I made three of them. After making the first I switched to a smaller hook and thinner yarn.
C chose the turquoise one for herself and reserved the white one for her friend.
She was quite proud to give it to her.
Normally I'm not one to have a lot of projects going on at the same time. I like to finish one before I start the other but it seems here lately I've been finding other things to work on instead of working on my granny stitch vest. Things are at a stand still with that one. I'm just not sure if I want to finish it. I'm still not liking the colors and even if I do go ahead and finish it I wonder if I'll ever wear it since I'm not crazy about it. But then again, I don't want to completely give up on it and frog it since this feeling of dissatisfaction is somewhat common with me. Often times I'll start something and for one reason or another I'll be unhappy with it but if I continue on and finish it then most of the time I like it. Sometimes things just go through an ugly phase before they reach perfection in the end.
I'm hoping that's the case with my granny stitch vest.
Perhaps it will grow on me.
You can find the link to the owl pattern here.
I'm the opposite... I usually have so many projects going that sometimes I get a bit overwhelmed and tell myself I cannot start anything until I finish another project. I really like the cute little owl... Happy new year to you and thanks for visiting me :)

Hi Foxxy, I really love these owls you made and they are the perfect gift for a 12 year old! I would love to try and make one sometime. You are always working on something that looks so nice. I'm like you and that I start to work on something and then sometimes I stop working on it and then when I look at it again after a while I don't like it too much so I rip it out! This year I want to work on one project at a time so I'm not distracted and I know that I finish it! I always say this each start of the year so I do hope I can keep up with this. Have a nice weekend and happy hooking!

Thanks for dropping by my blog to see my shawl. I love those owls what a great idea for teacher presents at the end of the year I was just thinking. Thanks for the link. Jo x
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty key charms hope you decide on your granny vest soon x
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute. I think any girl would like to have one. I try to finish each project before starting a new one, but I often find myself stopping every so often during a big project, like a blanket, to do something smaller or more intricate.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea. As you said, the pattern would look nice made into a larger style purse.
ReplyDeleteYour sweet little owls are gorgeous!...I often have a break from a project these days and return at a later date with a completely fresh view on things and remember why I liked it in the first place :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday,
Susan x
