Crochet Puppy Dog Hat

Well, I can't say I love how this turned out but the truth is I needed a baby shower present.  I have a cousin who is expecting her fourth child.  She is having a shower in a couple of weeks but we don't know the gender of the baby. So it could be a girl, or could be a boy.  I know I have plenty of little girl stuff tucked away that I could wrap up and give as a gift, but I didn't have a single thing for a baby boy. 

I came across this pattern on Repeat Crafter Me.  I thought it was cute and it looked simple enough so I thought I'd try it.  

The pattern was easy to follow and well written.  I had just a slight problem putting the face together.  I chose to leave off the mouth. I thought it would be fine without it.  I also think I placed the eyes too far apart because it looks more like a bear than a puppy.  But hopefully the expecting mom won't mind too much.  I still have time to try to make another one but I don't know if I want to.  There were a lot of pesky ends to weave in so this might be the first and the last of the "cutesy" hats I'll ever make.

I think I better hurry up and put it away because I'm a perfectionist and if I look at it too long I will keep finding fault with it. In the mean time I will keep looking for another boy pattern.  Let me know if you have a favorite one.
