Starting Simple

It's been a busy week around here.  Not much time for creating.  The house has been on the market for a week and we've had six appointments so far.  No phone calls this morning yet but the day is still young.  It's been a bit stressful and tiring but in those few moments of down time and relaxation I've managed to sneak in a little bit of knitting.
I ordered this book from Amazon.  It's called Itty Bitty Hats.  I am a beginning knitter and this book has several beginner hat patterns in it.  A friend recommended it to me and I'm glad I bought it because it has lots of cute hats for me to practice on.  And so...like the book says...I am starting simple.  This is the first pattern in the book and it's designed to be super simple for beginners like me.
It wasn't such a simple start for me though.  I've started this hat three times.  I first started it in pink.  Got a little ways then I ripped it out because of too many ugly mistakes.  Second time I got even further but made a couple mistakes and ripped it out again.  Third time I started it with this soft white yarn and I was thrilled when I made it all the way up without a single mistake.  Can I just say...I love knitting in the round.  I like being able to knit continuously without stopping to switch hands and turn everything around.   I made it all the way to the point where I have to start using double pointed needles.  I didn't find the ones I needed at our local store so I ordered them online.    Now I have to wait a few days to finish it.
:(
It's a beautiful Spring day today.  80 degrees with just a slight breeze.  As you can see in the photo, none of our trees have a single leaf on them.  We haven't had any rain and everything looks dry and dead still.  We got the March winds but... where's the April rain?
I'll leave you with this photo of our dog Penny crashed out on the floor in front of the door.  This is her daily morning routine. She lays here for hours soaking in the vitamin D.
Silly dog.

  4. It must be a good sign if you have had so many enquiries about your house! I hope that you find a buyer soon - but not before you get to appreciate the leaves coming out on your trees for just a little bit!! xx

  6. Love knitting in the round too. You could always knit it a tiny bit too tall, then bind off and tie a ribbon around the top. That'd be cute too.:) Happy knitting!

  10. I am coveting Penny's warm sunny spot!! You are doing wonderful on your knitting project. I so want to learn, but am finding it so difficult to work those pointed needles together and use two hands holding the needles!
