Our Silver Anniversary

 Happy anniversary to us!

It was twenty five years ago yesterday that hubby and I said our I dos.
The year was 1991 and the weather was much like it was yesterday, cool and blustery.

J and I wed at three o'clock in the afternoon in a small town in the Texas panhandle at our local Baptist church.  J's dad was the preacher and he married us.  We were young.  Not even in our twenties yet.  But we took the plunge and we pledged our love to each other and twenty five years later we're still here.

Wow!  I can't believe it's been that long.
I remember when we were first married twenty five years seemed like forever.
But the years have come and gone in what seems like a blink of an eye.
Our oldest daughter is 21.  Our son is 17 and our youngest daughter is 15.
And while marriage is hard work, it is very rewarding to reach a milestone and reflect back upon the years and be glad that we roughed it out and stayed committed to each other through the good times and the not so good times.

The sweet people from our church treated us with cake and ice cream after tonight's service.  I was just expecting a sheet cake with happy anniversary written on it so I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the fellowship hall and saw this fancy tier wedding cake sitting there.
I just stood there and admired it for a while.  The only thing was they wanted us to feed cake to each other which was a bit awkward for me since I don't like being in the spotlight.  But I suppose it wasn't too bad.  We just smiled and did what they asked us to.

My mother in law decorated with silver and lace tablecloths and there were lots of touches of peach and mint green which were our wedding colors. I had just told my oldest daughter yesterday even before all this happened that when the day comes to choose her wedding colors carefully because they will follow you for the rest of your life. :)

It was all very nice.
We have a wonderful church family and they take good care of us
and made us feel very special and very much loved.
Life has been good.
We feel so very blessed.

 Til  next time,
xo,
Beca

  3. Happy anniversary! Peach and green was definitely popular in the early 90s. Along with mauve and blue. My husband and I are both on our second marriage but already have 21 years under our belt. Our kids are the same ages, but I stopped with two boys. :) They are 20 and 17.

  5. Congratulations!!! I hope that you have many more happy years of marriage and anniversaries to come!! You are right about the colours, but I think it is nice in a way, it is a sign of the times of your marriage isn't it! We didn't really have any colours for our wedding, so I am not sure what would follow me, but in a way I wish that I did have some colours to follow me! xx
