Thankful Thursdays ♥

I know today is not Thursday.  I meant to post this last night  but I didn't get around to it.  So here I am on a Friday morning posting a Thankful Thursday post.  I hope you will allow me to at least pretend it's Thursday.

I got the idea a few weeks ago to do a thankful post every week.  This has been a rough year for me emotionally and spiritually.  Some things that happen in life can just knock you down so to speak.  And naturally it affects your mood, your spirit, and your outlook.  I read a quote the other day that caught my attention.  It said, a thankful heart is a happy heart.  Wow, so simple but so true.  So in an effort to push through this rough patch I'm going through I want to start being thankful for the little things in life.  Those little blessings that are all around us that, most of the time, don't get noticed.

So here is my first Thankful Thursday post.
(Even though it's Friday)

I am thankful for date nights with my husband.
Once a week for the past nine or ten years, Hubby and I go out on a date.  We started doing this when we were going through a rocky time in our marriage.  It was a way for us to reconnect and build on our relationship.  I can say that it has truly made a difference.  We've just kept on doing it week after week.  I look forward to Thursdays.  It's my favorite day of the week.  I think when we first started we used to go out on Friday.  Then a few years later we switched it to Tuesdays for one reason or another and now we're on Thursdays.  Thursdays work for us.  Our kids think it's cute that we go on dates.  They know when Thursday comes around mom and dad are going out and they'll need to pick up some fast food because mom's not cooking.
Who says you have to stop dating each other just because you're married?
It's fun and it makes me feel special that my handsome husband wants to get dressed up and take me out to eat.  Who wouldn't love that?

What are you thankful for this week?
