A New Month...

~ Hello October ~

Hello Chrysanthemums...

Hello pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie,
pumpkin spice, and everything nice...

Hello cool breezes...

Hello wet sloppy rain...

Hello long evenings curled up in bed
 watching movies type of weather...

I have missed  you.

I was walking through the produce department at the grocery store the other day and noticed the big bins of pumpkins had replaced the watermelons.  A new season is here and there's a different feeling in the air.

I had  been a good girl and hadn't gone out treasure hunting in a while.  Well, I don't know if it was really because I was a good girl or because life had just been busy, but for one reason or another I hadn't gone junking.  My oldest daughter had a day off last week and we both headed into town to do some shopping.  It always feels so good to get out of the house and do some of the "fun" shopping.   We stopped at my favorite shop and although we didn't score big, I did manage to bring a few things home with me.

The decorative tile fits right in with my Southwest kitchen.  I couldn't resist the yellow planter.  Even if it's Fall I need a little bit of cheery sunshine in my day.

$1.99 for this ginormous bag?  Sure, I'll take it.
All I could think about was how much yarn this could hold.

It holds a lot.
:)

I'm still working on this baby blanket.  It's coming along at a snails pace.  It seems like crochet goes a lot faster than knitting.  It takes a long time to see any progress with all of those little bitty tiny stitches.

I've been doing a lot of this lately with the wet weather and all. Binge watching my favorite Netflix series and knitting a little in the evenings.

With October here it makes me want to decorate my home for Fall.
I haven't gotten around to it yet but I'm hoping to get to it soon.

 ~Til next time ~

  1. Hello Beca, Happy October and fall. I love the pretty yellow pot and the big bag you bought. You always find such nice things. I wish we had a good thrift shop where I live. I know what you mean about knitting and it does take longer to do than crocheting. I bought some expensive yarn to knit myself a scarf and it is taking forever to make. I am in no rush and will work on it in the fall evenings.
I hope you have a nice month and get around to decorating your house for fall. Take care.

  5. Beca, I love your fall transition post. Here in Northern California, it still feels like summer. But I am looking forward to the coziness of fall too, and I really enjoy seeing fall posts from other parts of the country.
I like your finds, especially the bag. The knit baby blanket looks very delicate, but I know what you mean - all those tiny stitches take forever.
    Happy October!

  6. I've been avoiding all manner of 'fun' shopping for quite a long time now. Ever since I started decluttering my home on a grand scale, it took all the fun out of thrifting for me (I guess that's a good thing, but I kinda miss it). What a lovely warm colour of yellow for your plant pot. I often find my earthenware pots never fit inside the intended decorative pot! Yours fits perfectly. Your knitted blanket looks beautiful, and it's always worth the extra time to knit these things. A good excuse to relax and slow down a bit. I've been knitting very small items this past couple of weeks, and am ready to take on something bigger now. Fall is the perfect setting for that! Enjoy your weekend,

  7. It's always so nice to have a day to escape (especially with a daughter) to do some fun shopping now and again! Love your pretty 'finds', and your beautiful crochet and knitting. Also love your thoughts on autumn. I always get the urge to bake this time of year, but really need to watch the calories :) I need to start crocheting again, too - my little grandson is turning one soon! He needs a sweater! Sending hugs xo Karen

  8. Lovely blankets, bag and cute fox peeping out his tin. Yes like Wendy, I'm on a de-cluttering spree too, so much stuff and lots more needs to go. Have a good week, Cathy x

  9. Things sound cozy at your house! Knitting is slower than crochet, I think. The pink baby blanket is lovely though!

  10. Yes, I know just what you mean, time to cosy up for autumn and winter. Crochet does seem to grow so much quicker doesn’t it, the stitches seem bigger xx

  11. I love all your finds, I'm trying not to do any shopping right now as I need to declutter in a big way my new home is tiny. I love the colours of Autumn but not the cooler weather, your craft work is looking good and yes crochet is way quicker than knitting. :) x
